NCL offers concerns about new USDA poultry inspection plan

The plan announced by USDA last week to transfer some poultry inspection tasks from federal inspectors to plant personnel is drawing criticism from consumer/worker advocates, who fear that the new system - while providing some improvements - would eliminate jobs, be implemented before inspectors are fully trained, and put consumers and workers at risk.
