Missouri, Maine declare ‘open season’ on young workers; NCL decries attacks on child labor protections

The organization that helped write and enact the first child labor laws in states around the country a century ago is crying foul in reaction to legislation in both Maine and Missouri to unravel hard-fought child labor protections.

Consumers in the market for a used car this spring should be on guard against unscrupulous sellers looking to take them for a ride. In response to an increase in consumer complaints to the National Consumers League’s Fraud Center is warning consumers that, with the arrival of the upcoming peak car-buying season, comes increased risk of falling victim to a scam.

The National Consumers League today announced its support for the Air Passenger Bill of Rights Act of 2011, new legislation that will provide some very basic rights and increased comfort, including food, water, comfortable cabin temperature, and access to restrooms, while a plane is delayed on the ground.
