Parent Starter Kit

Welcome to Responsible Rx, a new initiative designed to help parents of children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) make successful and appropriate treatment choices for their child.

Responsible Rx will give parents tools to improve communication with their healthcare professional and better assess the risks and optimize the benefits of AD/HD medications.

For an average parent, raising a child takes patience, attention and hard work. But parents of the four million children in the United States diagnosed with AD/HD, face a greater challenge choosing whether a medication that manages their child's impulsive and hyperactive behavior is the best option to help their child.

The Responsible Rx program is designed to help parents understand the treatment evaluation and management process after an AD/HD diagnosis has been made. The program will provide tools to:
  • Better assess risks and optimize the benefits of AD/HD medications
  • Monitor their child's progress while on medication
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms that signal potential concern and warrant physician attention
  • Ask the right questions when talking to their child's physician about treatments
